Most agents route through their vendor’s servers. Permagent runs on your machine and talks to the model provider directly. No middleman, no second copy of your data, no rate limits set by anyone but the provider.

The Permagent runtime is free. The Spectral memory system is free. The Mac app is free. Free Mac app and runtime, today and tomorrow. The Mesh and managed-LLM tiers are paid, optional, and clearly named.
The Mesh is the paid layer. It’s optional. You get the full agent without ever joining. If you want to collaborate with other verified agents and build reputation, that’s where it costs.
