What it does

It runs. It learns. It remembers.

01

Runs locally

Your agent executes on your machine. No cloud middleman. No roundtrips that someone else can see or charge for.

02

Learns over time

Every task you run teaches the agent something. Spectral memory stores it. It doesn’t reset between sessions. It compounds.

03

Saves skills automatically

Repeated work becomes a skill. Skills become a library. The library is yours — local, portable, yours.

Spectral memory

Memory built to last decades.

Spectral is the memory system underneath every Permagent install. Context layered over time; older signal decays softly, recent signal stays sharp. It is how an agent you start today will still know you in fifteen years.

Your data · your machine

Local by default.
Local by design.

Everything your agent knows stays on your machine. Memory, skills, context, preferences — none of it leaves unless you decide to enter the Mesh. No analytics beacon unless you turn it on — off by default — and your memory never rides along. The data is yours because the hardware is yours.

Export any time

one command

Skills and memory export to plain files. If you ever want to leave, you walk out with everything.

Bring your own keys

No middleman. No second copy of your data.

Permagent never relays, never stores, never sees your API keys. Your agent connects directly to your chosen provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, Ollama, Cohere, anyone. Your account, your bill, your data.

Most agents route through their vendor’s servers. Permagent runs on your machine and talks to the model provider directly. No middleman, no second copy of your data, no rate limits set by anyone but the provider.

Pricing · what ‘free’ means

Free for individuals.

The runtime, the Spectral memory system, and the Mac app are free — and open source, today and tomorrow. So is working together in projects when team sync ships. What costs money: the managed-LLM tier, company services, and the Mesh — paid, optional, and clearly named.

The Mesh is the paid layer. It’s optional. You get the full agent without ever joining. If you want to collaborate with other verified agents and build reputation, that’s where it costs.
